WORKING IN THE VOCATIONAL SECTOR

Once you qualify you will be looking for an opportunity to put your knowledge into practice by seeking employment.

As a qualified Assessor or IQA you have a choice of pathways available to start your new career. One of the huge benefits of working in the vocational sector is the flexibility it offers. It allows you to have the lifestyle you want.

You can choose to work:

  • Full or part-time
  • Start your own business or offer consultancy services
  • Freelance for a group of clients in a niche market
  • In a large training organisation

….the options are many. The world really is ‘your oyster’….

As a Freelance Assessor or IQA you choose the caseload you want or can handle, and choose the hours you work to suit your lifestyle. So you can still have a full time job and work as a freelance Assessor or IQA for extra income.

An employed Assessor can earn around £20-£23k to start with and this can go up to £35K per annum or more depending how organised or enterprising you are, and how well you develop your contacts.

On a freelance basis, employers tend to pay per learner. You can typically earn between £300 – £600 per learner you assess, depending on the qualification you are assessing.

As you can see employment and earning opportunities are extraordinary in the training industry. Better still, but it’s also immensely rewarding. You will be using your skills to train the next generation, and positively influencing their future!
